Navigating a Volatile, Uncertain, Complex Museum World
Event Actions
Join Karina Wizevich, associate director of the MA in Museum Studies program, for a conservation with her teaching colleague Greg Stevens on the external forces and trends shaping museum and museum careers and practical strategies for navigating uncertainty.
The discussion will address the rapid change, shifting expectations, and increasingly unpredictable professional landscape, with time reserved for Q&A.
Greg Stevens has taught in the JHU Museum Studies program since 2017. He is principal of Purple Cow Career and Talent Development and has provided professional coaching to nearly 300 clients across the museum, higher education, nonprofit, corporate, and government sectors.
Previously, Stevens directed the MA in Museum Professions program at Seton Hall University and spent a decade at the American Alliance of Museums, leading professional development programs focused on leadership, management, and career development. He began his museum career at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum, National Building Museum, and National Museum of the U.S. Army. He is the co-editor of Museum Change Agents Making the World a Better Place (2024) and A Life in Museums: Managing Your Museum Career (2012).
