At Johns Hopkins, Michael P. Noonan is a lecturer for the MA in Global Security Studies program.

Noonan also is a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute and the author of Irregular Soldiers and Rebellious States. He has taught courses at American University, Haverford College, Loyola University Chicago, and Swarthmore College.

A veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Noonan served on a Military Transition Team with an Iraqi infantry battalion in western Nineveh province. He is a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies and a fellow of the Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society, and he holds a PhD in political science from Loyola University Chicago.
