Michael Downs
Lecturer
At Johns Hopkins, Michael Downs is a lecturer for the MA in Writing program.
Once a newspaper reporter, Michael Downs is now the author of three books, including the novel The Strange and True Tale of Horace Wells, Surgeon Dentist. His nonfiction work has been published in The Southern Review, the Los Angeles Review of Books, Ploughshares, and Baltimore magazine. His awards include a literature fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts and a five-month stint as a Fulbright scholar in Krakow, Poland.
Downs has taught creative writing or journalism at Towson University, University of Montana, American Indian Journalism Institute, and Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland.
