Leana Mitchell
Lecturer
Leana wholeheartedly believes in volunteerism. Over the last 25 years, she founded and operated a homeless meal program, created a charitable foundation for a national park, served as city parks and recreation commissioner, and participated with a myriad of other non-profit agencies such as community theaters, service clubs, and conservation groups. From this volunteerism, a career was born.
She spent several years as the Executive Director of a regional children’s museum, served as Marketing Director for a county art museum, and was the Director of Institutional Grants at a community college. She also operates her own business, consulting on marketing, grant writing, and non-profit formation. She has helped raise over $35M for the organizations she has been affiliated with.
Leana currently works as a senior grants specialist and learning experience designer for Ellucian, providing grants management/grant writing services and online course development and faculty training to colleges and universities. In addition, Leana teaches business courses for the incarcerated student educational program for Cerro Coso College. As an avid horsewoman, she also facilitates equine-assisted learning workshops on communication and leadership.
Leana has a BS in Business Administration from Capella University, an MBA specializing in Project Management from Walden University, and a DBA from Trident University International.
