Kevin M. Woods, is a defense analyst, historian, and Deputy Director of the Joint Advanced Warfighting Division at the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA). Prior to joining IDA, Dr. Woods was an US Army officer who served for 21 years in a variety of global assignments. Dr. Woods has degrees from Auburn University, the US Naval War College, and a Ph.D. in History from the University of Leeds in the UK. He is the lead author of several books, articles, and studies regarding the military history of Iraq and the regime of Saddam Hussein. As a senior defense analyst, Dr. Woods has led numerous multi-disciplinary research projects on a wide range of topics including national security strategy development, analyses of historical and contemporary military operations, military concept development, joint military experimentation, design and execution of strategic and operational wargames, and Red Team studies for the Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community.
