Jason Gray

At Johns Hopkins, Jason Gray is a lecturer in the MA in Film and Media program where he teaches in the Immersive Storytelling and Emerging Technology concentration.

A seasoned filmmaker, multimedia specialist, and educator with extensive experience in extended reality (XR) content creation, Gray is the founder and creative lead of Story Hut LLC, a company dedicated to crafting innovative XR and multimedia experiences with a focus on impactful storytelling. Through Story Hut, Jason explores the intersections of virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technologies to create dynamic immersive media. His work spans genres, including public health, narrative, documentary, and music videos, showcasing his commitment to using technology for social good.

A versatile director and producer, Gray has been involved in a range of multidisciplinary projects, from experimental films to music production, and has earned recognition for his original motion picture soundtracks. His technical expertise includes volumetric capture, 360 hologram production, and digital imaging for XR applications, positioning him at the forefront of emerging media.

Gray is also the Video Multimedia Systems Specialist at The Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, where he directs and produces video content for live streaming, promotional, and instructional purposes. His background additionally includes nearly a decade at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where he led video studio operations, establishing streamlined workflows and standardized production pipelines to enhance the quality and efficiency of multimedia content.

Gray holds a MA in Immersive Storytelling and Emerging Technology from Johns Hopkins University. Dedicated to advancing equity in technology education, he is currently engaged in a virtual reality project focused on mentoring diversity among university faculty and is a passionate music producer and DJ who brings a unique blend of creative and technical skills to every project he undertakes.
