Janis Butkevics

Janis Butkevics is a data scientist and technical lead at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. He is currently working on multiple initiatives that apply machine learning to cyber defense, natural language processing, and data conditioning. Previously, he was a strategic planner and data scientist as part of the Department of Defense.

Janis’ research efforts focus on methods to automatically structure and label unstructured data. His other projects focused on machine learning applications in natural language processing and cyber defense applying unsupervised methods to data exploration and clustering.

Janis earned a BS in Business Administration and Marketing from Post University and an MS in Machine Learning from Northwestern University.
