At Johns Hopkins,Gele Liu is the Assistant Program Director and a senior lecturer for the MS in Biotechnology, MS in Regenerative and Stem Cell Technologies, and MS in Regulatory Science programs.

Liu’s expertise is in gene, cell, and gene editing stem cell therapy, and gene (genome and RNA) cloning and editing, as well as other molecular, genetic, and cellular technologies for heart diseases and neurological diseases of the brain and spinal cord. He has cloned five new genes, which are collected by GenBank.

Liu obtained a doctor of medicine degree in internal medicine in China and worked as a cardiologist at Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Sciences. He received scholarships from the British government and from the University of Manchester as a doctoral student in the field of cellular and molecular biology in medicine and brings a wealth of experience from several universities and medical schools in the United States and China.
