Gabrielle Scolaro
Lecturer
At Johns Hopkins, Gabrielle Scolaro currently serves dually as a lecturer in the MS in Biotechnology program and the MS in Bioinformatics program, where she highlights the importance of equipping students with both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for successful careers in both fields.
Scolaro also is a Senior Scientist on assignment at GlaxoSmithKline through Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a part of the Precision Genome Engineering Team, she leads the development of a CHO-based next-generation host cell line through state-of-the-art genetic engineering techniques, contributing to innovative recombinant vaccine workflows. Her expertise extends to optimizing workflows and methodologies that improve the efficiency and quality of bioproduction, making contributions to the streamlined development of therapeutics. Her role also involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful translation of research into practical applications in the biotechnology industry.
Scolaro also has served as a Senior Research and Bioinformatics Specialist, where she contributed to oncology and genetics research and focused on identifying genetic variants, analyzing their prevalence in diseased populations, and assessing their impact through in vivo studies.
She is a cum laude graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology and a minor in Bioinformatics. She holds a Master of Science in Biotechnology with a concentration in Bioinformatics from Johns Hopkins University KSAS Advanced Academic Programs.
