Donna Situ
Lecturer
At Johns Hopkins, Donna Situ is a lecturer in the Master of Biotechnology Enterprise and Entrepreneurship program and serves as Senior Vice President of Sales and Life Sciences Lead /General Manager for pre-IPO companies Komodo Health and Clarify Health, respectively. There she has led teams in tip of the spear B2B roles to advance top 20 biopharma companies’ adoption, implementation and renewal of data insights, software subscriptions, and AI solutions in healthcare. She has worked on groundbreaking initiatives supporting regulatory reviews for product approvals, clinical development and trial recruitment, predictive alerts to identify new patients eligible for innovations, and strategic partnerships involving genomics, laboratory and clinical signals. She has collaborated across organizations to deliver research-grade de-identified patient insights and endpoints with speed to clients across multiple therapeutic areas including oncology, immunology, rare diseases, virology, cardiology, dermatology, and other diseases.
Prior to her health tech roles, Situ ascended through various Commercial functions—Sales, Marketing and Market Access—at top pharmaceutical companies Johnson & Johnson, Genentech / Roche, Gilead Sciences, and Portola Pharmaceuticals, remaining at Alexion following Alexion’s acquisition of Portola prior to the AstraZeneca acquisition in the end of 2020. In 2019, she led Market Access strategies for all Gilead Liver products that generated ~$4.5 billion in sales. During the H1N1 pandemic, Situ deployed a contracted sales force of 400+ as Genentech’s lead healthcare professional marketer reaching 400K+ prescribers. Throughout her biopharmaceutical career, she contributed to 10+ product and line extension launches.
Situ has also served advisory roles at startups such as Pear Therapeutics, SummerBio, and Berta Spine. In addition, she has owned and managed a surgical private practice and multiple real estate investments. She holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, a European Master’s diploma from the Bologna Center of Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Italy, and a BA from the Johns Hopkins University. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area today with her family and two dogs.
