Curtis Valentine
Lecturer
At Johns Hopkins, Curtis Valentine serves as a lecturer in the MA in Public Management program.
With more than 20 years of dedicated service to the field of public education, Valentine is the founder of Real Men Teach, a community of educators striving to recruit and retain male educators of color. He also serves as Co-Director of the Progressive Policy Institute’s Reinventing America’s Schools Project and as Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland. Valentine has served as an At-Large Member of the Board of Education for Prince George’s County (MD) Public Schools for more than a decade.
Valentine earned a BA in English Language and Literature/Letters from Morehouse College and an MS in Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School, where he served as Co-Chief Editor of the Africa Policy Journal. He was later honored as the recipient of the school’s Robert F. Kennedy Award for Excellence in Public Service. He is currently writing a book entitled Real Men Teach, highlighting the impact of Black male educators throughout history.
