At Johns Hopkins, Coco Krumme is a lecturer in the MS in Data Analytics and Policy program, with a background in computational social science, causal inference, and data science.

Over the last 10 years, Krumme has taught in the data science programs at the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Michigan School of Information. She is the founder of Leeward Co, a computational science consultancy working with research teams in startups and industry. Prior to starting Leeward, Krumme led and founded data science teams in various capacities. She is the author of the book Optimal Illusions (2023 – Riverhead /Penguin Random House).

Krumme holds a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Media Lab with a focus in applied mathematics and statistical physics as applied to questions in the social sciences.
