Christina Sanders
Lecturers
At Johns Hopkins, Christina Sanders is a lecturer in the MS in Biotechnology program. Sanders spent 25 years supporting the U.S. Government, conducting research and analysis on biosecurity, biodefense, and public health topics in direct support of public policy makers. She also created materials to communicate complex scientific ideas and topics to both technical and lay audiences, participated in the development and running of tabletop exercises, and developed and delivered educational material at elementary, undergraduate, and graduate levels.
Through her work with the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Sanders developed and supported biosurveillance tools, focused on pathogens both of pandemic potential and biodefense interest. Through her last Government role as an Assistant Professor at the National Intelligence University, Sanders focused on science and technology intelligence.
Sanders holds a BS in Biological Sciences from California State University, Hayward (East Bay), an MS in Biohazardous Threat Agents and Emerging Infectious Diseases from Georgetown University, an MS in Biodefense from George Mason University, and an MS in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University. Her current PhD research, which she is pursuing at The Ohio State University, focuses on influenza virus at the zoonotic interface.
