Andrew R. Novo is an Associate Professor of Strategic Studies at the National Defense University, Washington, D.C. He earned a BA in classical history at Princeton University before getting a master’s degree in international relations and a doctorate in modern history from St. Antony’s College, the University of Oxford. An expert in ancient and modern Mediterranean history, strategic studies, international relations, and military history, Dr. Novo has taught at Georgetown University and the University of Nicosia. He has lectured at the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, and the University of Torino. He is the author of Re-Imagining Thucydides (forthcoming in 2020) and numerous academic articles. His opinion-editorials have been published in various media outlets including the Harvard International Review, the National Interest, and the New Atlanticist. He has also presented on current affairs at various think tanks including the Brookings Institution and the Atlantic Council. His research and speaking interests include: Great power competition, Mediterranean history and politics, grand strategy, American foreign policy and NATO. He speaks French and Modern Greek and is conversant in Italian.
