There are no hard deadlines for graduate financial aid, but we encourage you to allow a minimum of one month from the time you submit your aid application until your loan is disbursed to your account. Learn more about the financial aid timeline.
Financial Assistance Options for AAP Students
Federal Loans
Any enrolled or accepted student who is a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible non-citizen enrolled for at least 4.5 credits per Fall/Spring semester or 3 credits for Summer term may apply for federal loans.
- Direct Unsubsidized Loan: Degree candidates and some provisional students may receive up to $20,500 per year in unsubsidized direct loans. Your loan amount will be prorated based on the number of credits you take.
- Graduate PLUS loans: These loans are being phased out under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. As of July 1, 2026:
- New borrowers are not eligible for Grad PLUS loans.
(Please note, while the application may still appear on studentaid.gov, it will not be processed.) - Current students may still qualify if you borrowed federal loans before July 1, 2026.

Private Loans
Private loans can help cover remaining educational costs after federal loans and other forms of aid have been considered. If you need to borrow beyond federal loan limits, visit our Private Loans page to compare lenders, pre-qualify without impacting your credit, and apply directly.
Payment Plans
A payment plan through Nelnet Campus Commerce allows you to spread your education expenses over smaller monthly installments for a small enrollment fee. There is no interest and no pre-qualification or credit check for this service.
