Manolis Priniotakis

At Johns Hopkins, Manolis Priniotakis is a lecturer in the MS in Intelligence Analysis program where he draws on more than two decades of experience as a U.S. national security leader who shapes U.S. intelligence strategy, operations, and education.

As CEO/Founder of Intelligence & National Security Directions, LLC, Priniotakis brings government, academia, and industry expertise together to deliver risk insights, foresight, publishing, events, and training across the intelligence and national security ecosystem. He is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow with the University of South Florida’s Global and National Security Institute, as well as a member of Arizona State University’s Intelligence Advisory Council.

Previously, as a career member of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s Senior National Intelligence Service, he led the National Intelligence University’s research institute, strategic communications, and recruitment as the Vice President for Research and Engagement. In addition to teaching courses on the intersection of intelligence and national security policy, as well as on research design and methods, he was a member of the President’s Cabinet, playing a central role in strategic planning and university operations, to include oversight of its $50+ million budget. In 2024, the White House recognized his ODNI contributions with the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Service.

While Chief of Staff for the Department of Energy’s Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence, Priniotakis oversaw daily intelligence support for multiple Secretaries of Energy. Earlier, he served as Chief of Staff for the ODNI’s President’s Daily Brief staff where he spearheaded an award-winning overhaul of how the President receives intelligence. His prior work as a manager and analyst in DOE-IN’s Energy Security Division included authorship of articles on energy security and global commercial issues. Prior to joining the government, he worked for Amazon.com and eToys.com during the early days of the Internet industry.

Priniotakis holds degrees from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies and Georgetown University, as well as a Chief Risk Officer Certification from George Mason University.
