Phyllis Hecht

At Johns Hopkins, Phyllis Hecht serves as a lecturer in the MA in Museum Studies program.
A recognized leader in the museum field for her innovative work in education, design, strategic planning, and technology, Hecht is founding director of the Johns Hopkins University Master of Arts in Museum Studies program, which launched in 2008. Prior to JHU, she worked at the National Gallery of the Art in Washington, D.C., as manager of the museum’s website and as an award-winning designer of print and web publications. Hecht co-edited “The Digital Museum: A Think Guide,” an anthology on museums and technology, published by the American Alliance of Museums. In 2022, she received the Katherine Coffey award for lifetime achievement in the museum field from the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums.
Hecht received a BS in Journalism and a BA in Art History from the University of Maryland, and a Master of Arts in Teaching in Museum Education from George Washington University.
