Tyler Chavez is a lecturer in the AAP Biotechnology program covering online biochemistry. Tyler went to undergrad at Sonoma State University, where he studied chemistry. After completing his undergraduate education, he moved to Baltimore to attend Johns Hopkins University where he received his PhD in Organic chemistry. While in graduate school Tyler built on an interest of working at the interface of business and science which led him to take a job at Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures as a Business Development Associate where he was responsible for building and managing collaborations with the biopharmaceutical industry. After JHTV, he became the Sr. Alliance Management & New Product Planning Associate at Spark Therapeutics, a gene therapy company in Philadelphia, PA. Following his time at Spark he moved to a digital medicine startup, AppliedVR where he built and managed a portfolio of strategic partnerships. Currently, Tyler is the Associate Director of Alliance Management at BeiGene, an oncology focused biopharmaceutical company.
