At Johns Hopkins, Judith Fitzgerald is a lecturer in the MA in Non-Profit Management program.

She is also a contributing faculty member at Walden University, teaching in the School of Public Policy and Administration, including for the Non-Profit Management master’s program. Before Walden University, Fitzgerald was a full-time lecturer at Bowie State University in the Criminal Justice program. While at Bowie State, she was a full-time faculty member and program director/principal investigator for the MAC-CAE, National Intelligence Studies program. As program director, she worked on curriculum development for the National Intelligence Studies program and Bowie State’s new Criminal Justice program. Fitzgerald was also an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland, College Park and Baltimore City Community College.

Fitzgerald’s passion for non-profit service began decades ago when she accepted the position of executive director of ReInvent Inc., a non-profit music and pro-social arts program for at-risk youth in Baltimore City. The organization was committed to providing summer and after-school programs for latchkey children in urban neighborhoods.

Fitzgerald has experience on various boards, including as director for Unified Community Connections (formerly the United Cerebral Palsy of Central Maryland), vice-chair and director for Trinity Foundation, and director for the Education Foundation for Baltimore County Public Schools. In 2019, she was appointed to the Board of Trustees for Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. She is currently on the Board of Directors as vice president for Cultured Pearls of Service, Inc. In July 2023, she was appointed to the Board of Directors as the vice-chair for the Foundation for the Augmentation of African Americans in Film. FAAAF’s fundraising includes the Black Reel Awards and the Lightreel Film Festival. As the parent of a teenager on the Autism Spectrum, Fitzgerald is also an advocate for children with special needs.

In 2013, she received the Dream Keeper Award for her dedication to teaching and mentoring. Her accomplishments were announced on the U.S. House of Representatives floor by Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger. Fitzgerald also received special appreciation and commendation from the Maryland governor and the Baltimore County Council for her service to the community and her work in education and mentoring. She has also received service and mentoring awards from Bowie State University’s Student Government Association and the Mid-Atlantic Consortium-Center for Academic Excellence. In January 2017, Fitzgerald was awarded the Walden University SPPA Award for Faculty Excellence for her impact on the community and her distinguished service to the School of Public Policy and Administration’s mission.

Fitzgerald is a graduate of Lincoln University in Pennsylvania and Boston College Law School.
