At Johns Hopkins, Steven Grant serves as a lecturer in the MA in Communication program where he teaches Branding and Advertising, Introduction to Public Relations, and Integrated Marketing Communications.

Grant’s 30-year career in communication includes a stint as the associate director of communications for the National Education Association, the nation’s largest labor union. Prior to NEA, Steve was the vice president of the education and marketing practice for Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide as a branding specialist. He previously served as the senior marketing manager at Crabtree+Company, a science marketing communications agency, as well as the marketing manager for the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and assistant director of communications for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities.

Grant is past president of the PRSA National Capital Chapter and is Accredited in Public Relations. The past recipient of numerous PRSA and other communications industry awards, he previously served as an adjunct professor for the Carey Business School, where he taught Brand Management, Integrated Marketing Communications, Advertising, and Corporate Communication. He has also taught graduate-level courses at the American University School of Communication. He holds an MA in journalism and mass communication research from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he also received his bachelor’s degree in journalism.
