At Johns Hopkins, Oyakhi Ibhagui is a lecturer in the MS in Financial Economics program where he teaches Financial Markets and Financial Intermediation. Externally, he serves as a senior fellow and research director at the BAUM TenPers Institute while also mentoring students to develop publishable research skills in selected fields within economics, finance, econometrics, and areas of applied mathematics with applications in finance theory. He also coordinates a team of volunteers who teach college and PhD prep courses and raise funds to finance students’ application fees and standardized tests.

Ibhagui is a strategist at the International Finance Corporation, responsible for research-driven strategies and idea generation in international macro, fixed income, derivatives, and cross-asset strategies. Earlier in his professional career, he worked in equity research where he consistently ranked among the all-star analysts (top 3) in his sectors of coverage.

Ibhagui received his research training in International Finance and holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Kent. An amateur actor and table tennis player, he won the 2010 AIMS Table Tennis Championship in Cape Town and has been featured in several on-stage plays. His published research in professional and academic journals has addressed financial markets, macro finance, and international finance.
