At Johns Hopkins, Ou Hu is Program Director and a senior lecturer for the MS in Financial Economics program.

Before joining Johns Hopkins, Hu was a tenured full professor of economics at Youngstown State University. At YSU, he once served as chair of the Department of Economics and was named the inaugural Paul J. Thomas Endowment Chair of Economics. His teaching interest includes financial economics, international finance, applied time series analysis, econometrics, game theory, and behavioral finance. He has published peer-reviewed articles in the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, the Journal of Financial Research, and other publications.

Hu received a Master of Arts in economics from West Virginia University and BSBA from Beijing Technology and Business University. He received a PhD in economics from West Virginia University and is also an active Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder and a regular member of the CFA Society of Cleveland.
