Dr. Michael Fisher is a consultant specializing in USDA regulation of meat and poultry slaughter and processing operations. He earned his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University before going on to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Veterinary Services Officer (CPT), eventually becoming a Senior Veterinarian (COL) at the U.S. Army Public Health Command, Fort Sam in Houston, TX. He has also worked at the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, holding positions as a Veterinary Medical Officer and a Policy Development Staff Officer. In the latter role, his areas of expertise included raw product processing, sanitation, and HACCP. Dr. Fisher currently teaches USDA Regulation of Food Safety, Wholesomeness, and Labeling at AAP.
