Matt Jones is a writer of environmental nonfiction, literary journalism, personal essays, hybrid texts, and fiction. His nonfiction has appeared in Best American Science and Nature Writing 2019, The Southern Review, The Atlantic, New England Review, Michigan Quarterly Review, and various other publications. He is currently at work on Future Perfect, a linked essay collection that uses a blend of literary journalism, archival research, and personal writing to explore how language attempts, and sometimes fails, to communicate the realities of pressing environmental threats.

Matt received his MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Alabama, and he has taught writing at the University of Cincinnati, Xavier University, and the University of Alabama. He has received financial support from the Ohio Arts Council, Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, Vermont Studio Center, the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies, and The Aldo Leopold Foundation.
