At Johns Hopkins, Katherine Wellman is Assistant Program Director and a senior lecturer for the Master of Biotechnology Enterprise and Entrepreneurship and Graduate Certificate in Biotechnology Enterprise programs and a senior lecturer for the MS in Biotechnology and MS in Bioinformatics programs, as well as the MS in Biotechnology and MBA Dual Degree program.

Wellman brings extensive experience in the international and domestic business sectors. She has headed global auditing teams, served on merger and acquisition teams, and consulted in strategic initiatives and policy implementation for pharmaceutical and life sciences companies. She also participated in public diplomacy activities by traveling on behalf of the U.S. Department of State as an expert in the governance of bioscience and public-private partnerships.

Wellman is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University, receiving a Master of Science in biotechnology from the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and a Master of Business Administration from the Carey Business School. She also earned a Master of Science in health and safety from Indiana State University and a Bachelor of Science in health and safety, biology, and public health with an education emphasis from Ball State University. Wellman received her doctorate in public administration at the University of Baltimore, completing her dissertation on the governance of science and technology.
