At Johns Hopkins, Joon Kim is a lecturer for the MS in Organizational Leadership program.

Kim is the son of immigrant parents from South Korea. He’s taught math and science for K-12 grades before transitioning to higher education in 2003. Since then, he has taught courses in education, leadership, organizational psychology, professional development, and ethics. Beginning in 2011, he has been teaching premedical professional development at the Keck Graduate Institute for postbaccalaureate premedical students.

As a professional mentor, his former students have successfully continued to become physicians, healthcare professionals, biotechnology entrepreneurs, teachers, and leaders of non-profit organizations.

He earned his baccalaureate degree in psychology at UCLA and master’s degree in higher education and doctorate in leadership with a specialization in educational psychology at the University of Southern California.

When not teaching, he and his wife devote their time to their non-profit foundation, Sanctuary Homes, an organization serving individuals in life transitions.
