Jonathan Veum is Vice President, Models & Analytics, at Freddie Mac, where he manages a team of quantitative analysts responsible for the creation, development, and performance of prepayment and credit models used to manage risks of Freddie Mac’s $300 billion retained portfolio and $2 trillion securitized portfolio. In particular, he is responsible for models used within the investments and capital markets area, including those used for transactions involving guaranteed agency mortgage-backed securities, structured interest rate products, structured credit products, non-performing and re-performing loans, and mortgage servicing rights.

Prior to Freddie Mac, Dr. Veum worked as a Research Economist with the Bureau of Labor Statistics. He received his Ph.D in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a B.A. in Economics / Mathematics from the University of California at Santa Barbara. He is the author of 20+ journal articles in the field of Economics.
