At Johns Hopkins, Jiuchen Deng serves as a Program Coordinator and lecturer in the MS in Applied Economics and the MS in Financial Economics programs where he draws on his research interests of labor economics, health economics, the economics of education, and development economics.

As part of his research, Deng has applied causal inference methods and skill formation models to examine key issues concerning the development of children’s human capital. He has also conducted research at multiple research centers affiliated with the University of Minnesota and has taught courses in microeconomics and econometrics across various departments at different universities, both in person and online.

Deng earned his PhD in Applied Economics from the University of Minnesota in 2025 and an MS in Economics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 2019. He received a BA in Economics and a minor in Mathematics from the University of California, San Diego in 2017.
