Helen Serassio holds a J.D. from the University of Utah and brings more than 12 years of experience as legal counsel at the US Department of Transportation, The White House Council on Environmental Quality and the Federal Transit Administration. She is currently the FTA’s Special Counsel for the award and oversight of the $10.4 billion in relief funds for response to damages from 2012’s Hurricane Sandy. Helen is admitted to the bar in the District of Columbia and for the United States Supreme Court. Her particular area of expertise is in environmental energy and natural resources with focus on national policy and implementation. Helen’s prior teaching experience has been in government trainings and short courses. She has a strong commitment to teaching as demonstrated by her work mentoring interns, including several Hopkins AAP Graduate Students, while at the White House.
