Mr. Van Wyk has taught at Johns Hopkins University for over a decade, focusing on environmental policy, transportation policy, and smart growth. He currently works as a Senior Project Manager for HNTB Corporation, a private consulting firm, primarily supporting transit agencies across the country on the planning and environmental reviews of capital transit projects. Prior to that role, he worked at the Federal Transit Administration, where he served as the Director of the Office of Environmental Program, overseeing the development of environmental regulations, guidance, and training, as well as subject-matter support for environmental reviews across the agency. He previously served as an attorney-advisor at the Federal Transit Administration, defending federal court litigation and serving as counsel to the Office of Planning and Environment. Mr. Van Wyk also teaches workshops on Environmental Justice for the National Transit Institute.
