April Dickey earned her undergraduate degree in Journalism and English education from Ball State University and her master’s degree in Teaching Writing from Johns Hopkins University, where she received the Outstanding Graduate award.

Her teaching experience spans a wide range of ages. For over a decade, she taught high school English, journalism, and creative writing courses and advised the school’s newspaper and yearbook. She has also worked with elementary students as a writing coach.

Currently, she teaches writing courses for Johns Hopkins University through the MA in Teaching Writing program and the Center for Talented Youth. Additionally, she instructs writers at Indiana Wesleyan University.

She has a passion for teaching and for finding ways to unleash the writer within each student.
