Andy Carstens
Lecturer
At Johns Hopkins, Andy Carstens is a lecturer for the MA in Science Writing program.
When not teaching, Carstens is a freelance science writer and journalist based in Denver, Colorado. He regularly contributes to TheBody and TheBodyPro, two online publications dedicated to giving scientifically accurate information about HIV and public health issues that affect the LGBTQ+ community. Carstens is a former intern and contributor at The Scientist, and his work has also appeared in Slate, Audubon, Them, and other publications.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in science writing from Johns Hopkins University.
