Alexandra Minicozzi

Before joining CBO in 2008, Dr. Alexandra (Alex) Minicozzi worked as an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin and then as a Financial Economist for the U.S. Department of Treasury. She was promoted to a senior adviser in 2016, and then to a unit chief for the Health Insurance Modeling Unit in 2017. Her team of analysts develop and run the simulation model as a major input to help inform congress as to effects on health insurance coverage, premiums and the federal budget of current law and proposed changes to law affecting people under the age of 65.

Alex has taught graduate and/or undergraduates economics continuously since 1997, after she completed her PhD in Economics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She has taught at the University of Texas, Northwestern University, and George Washington University, in addition to teaching at Johns Hopkins University since 2004.
