Admissions Criteria
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited US college or university, or equivalent international credential
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Program-Specific Prerequisite Courses (each requires a grade of B or better):
- One semester of introductory microeconomics, or equivalent
- One semester of introductory macroeconomics, or equivalent
- One semester of undergraduate multivariable calculus, or equivalent
- One semester of undergraduate statistics, or equivalent

Required Supporting Materials
Please include any full- or part-time work, internships, and relevant volunteer history. Be sure to detail your educational background and any previous responsibilities related to your intended program.

In 250 words, please share with us why you are interested in pursuing the MS in Financial Economics degree at JHU. How have your academic and professional experiences led to your decision to consider this degree and how will it help you succeed in your goals?
Please identify two individuals, such as professors or supervisors, who can verify your professional and/or academic accomplishments. Submit your recommenders’ contact information within your online application. They will be emailed automatically with instructions to access the system and provide their recommendations.
Please provide the official syllabus related to your undergraduate multivariable calculus (or equivalent) course. This prerequisite may also be referred to as Calculus III, or referenced as Advanced Mathematics II on an international course-by-course evaluation.
Additional Considerations
Three of the four Program-Specific Prerequisite Courses listed under the Admissions Criteria (except for Multivariable Calculus) can be substituted by a College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exam with at least 65 points, scaled, or an Advanced Placement (AP) exam with at least a grade of 4.
To submit a CLEP score, please visit the CLEP website and create an account. Instructions for ordering scores are included on the site.
Applicants who received their bachelor’s degree in a country outside of the United States or have international coursework are required to provide a course-by-course credential evaluation. Studying abroad may be exempt.
If English is your second language, you may be required to take the TOEFL or IELTS examination. Please note this program requires a minimum online TOEFL test score of 100.
