Aedan NikasAedan Nikas, a resident of Washington, D.C., is making significant strides in his journey to revolutionize the medical field.

Currently enrolled in the Master of Biotechnology Enterprise and Entrepreneurship program at Johns Hopkins University, Nikas is driven by a deep-rooted family legacy in healthcare.

Following the lead of his mother and brother, who are both healthcare professionals, Nikas has leaned into his familial background in medicine as an influence for his academic and career aspirations.

“Johns Hopkins is the best university for anyone who wants to enter this field,” said Nikas, 23.

Nikas’s program, primarily conducted online, allows him the flexibility to study from various locations, including museums and cafés.

“Being able to study remotely means I can be anywhere,” he said.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Nikas is actively involved in his community, dedicates himself to mentoring high school students from lower-income communities in the D.C. area, and trains inner-city youth in boxing. These hobbies and commitments reflect his desire to give back and positively impact society.

With a projected graduation date of no later than 2029, Nikas has clear plans for his future. He aims to use the life science skills and business acumen that he has gained from the program to work in product management at a medical device company, where he hopes to apply his knowledge and passion for creating future innovations in medicine.

His journey at Johns Hopkins University is not just about obtaining a degree but is a testament to his commitment to finding solutions to the toughest medical issues.

“I enjoy learning how to create the future of medicine,” Nikas said.
