Non-Degree Seeking Students

A non-degree seeking or special student is one who would be eligible for admission as a degree or certificate candidate to the chosen program, but who is not interested in pursuing the credential.

Admitted Students With Non-Degree Seeking/Special Status Are:

  • Permitted to enroll in courses for which they satisfy the prerequisites
  • Permitted to take up to 4 courses
  • Not qualified to receive financial aid
  • Not eligible for graduation
  • Required to re-apply to become degree-seeking (acceptance not guaranteed)

Admissions Requirements

To be considered for admission, a non-degree seeking or special student must submit the following:

  1. A completed application.
    Please indicate “non-degree seeking” under the AAP Program tab in the application.
  2. Official transcripts for the highest degree attained:
    JHU AAP prefers to accept official transcripts that are electronically sent directly from the granting institution and emailed to [email protected]. If your institution does not provide electronic transcripts, request that your institution send an official transcript directly to:

    AAP requires electronic transcripts be emailed directly to [email protected] from the granting institution. If your institution doesn’t provide electronic transcripts, please contact [email protected]

  3. Statement of Purpose
  4. Resume
  5. Writing sample
