John Green

At Johns Hopkins, John Green is a lecturer for the MS in Applied Economics program.

Green has 25 years of experience as an IMF economist. Assignments included the World Economic Outlook (multilateral surveillance), the European Department (country surveillance and financial crisis management), and the African Department (lending programs). Green also helped countries around the world implement monetary policy.

John’s interest in economics was piqued when he attended an open lecture on the U.S. energy crisis in the 1970s. Professor Robert Solow countered the popular argument that the economy would grind to a halt because of the oil shortage. He told the audience that demand, and supply would adjust to higher prices. Enrolled in Professor Solow’s introductory course the next semester and has never looked back.
