Brandon J. Restrepo

At Johns Hopkins, Brandon J. Restrepo is a lecturer for the MS in Applied Economics program.

Restrepo also is a research economist at USDA’s Economic Research Service. In his current research program, he examines how nutrition information, food prices, food assistance programs, labor supply, time use, and other economic factors affect diet-related health behaviors and outcomes. His research has been published in leading journals in several fields, including agricultural economics (Food Policy), empirical microeconomics (Journal of Human Resources), environmental economics (Journal of the Association of Environmental and Resource Economists), health economics (Journal of Health Economics), population economics (Journal of Population Economics), and public health (American Journal of Public Health).

He has held positions as a senior economist at the White House Council of Economic Advisers and as a regulatory economist at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Restrepo also has taught graduate courses at the European University Institute and undergraduate courses at The Ohio State University.

He received his PhD in economics from The Ohio State University.
