Dr. Alexander Stepanov received BS in Computer Science from St. Petersburg State Technical University (Russia). He holds MS in Regional Planning and PhD in Operations Research from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

These three areas have a common theme – Geographic Information Systems. Alexander has been working with GIS for more than 20 years. Dr. Stepanov’s interests are in the integration of GIS and Operations Research and optimization methods. Alexander has been teaching “Spatial Databases and Data Interoperability ” course at MS GIS Program. This course introduces applications of spatial databases and building end-to-end automation workflows to support analytics and reproducible research.
