On Wednesday, May 26, our new graduates and their guests will enjoy Dr. Bahija Jallal’s address during the online 2021 KSAS Master’s Ceremony.

Bahija Jallal, PhDDr. Jallal is the Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Board of Immunocore, the leading T-Cell Receptor biotechnology company. Prior to joining Immunocore in January 2019, she was President of MedImmune, Astra Zeneca’s global biologics research and development unit. She was also Executive Vice President of AstraZeneca and a member of its senior executive team.

Author of more than 70 peer-reviewed publications and holding more than 15 patents, Dr. Jallal is also a Council Member of the Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine and a member of the American Association of Science. She is also the immediate past President of the Association of Women in Science.

Dr. Jallal was named the 2017 Woman of the Year by the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association. Prior to joining MedImmune, Dr. Jallal worked with Chiron Corporation where she served as Vice President, drug assessment and development, and successfully established the company’s translational medicine group. Prior to Chiron Corporation, she worked at Sugen, Inc.

Earning her doctorate in physiology from the Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris, Dr. Jallal then conducted her post-doctoral research at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Martinsried, Germany.

Dr. Jallal is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Johns Hopkins University and the Board of Directors of the University of Maryland Health Sciences Research Park Corporation.

The 2021 KSAS Master’s Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, May 26, at 3 PM EDT. Everyone is invited to participate as graduates from Summer 2020, Fall 2020, and Spring 2021 are individually recognized for finishing their programs.
