Michael LeGower is an Economist at the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Economics working in the Consumer Protection Division. His fields of research include Public Economics and Labor Economics with a focus on experimental and other empirical methods. His research interests include program evaluation, evaluation of the incidence and efficiency of policy, competitive fundraising mechanisms for public goods, and the interaction between private firms and non-profit organizations in fundraising campaigns.

His work examines the impact of place-based Promise Scholarship programs on housing prices in an attempt to determine who values such scholarships and how to maximize their impact. Previous work has included the evaluation another prominent policy – the Federal Healthy Marriage Initiative – as well as an investigation into business contributions to non-profit fundraising campaigns in an attempt to determine how non-profit organizations should optimally solicit such contributions.
