Judith Barr

Judith Barr is a Curatorial Assistant in the Antiquities department of the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, where she has been a member of the Antiquities Provenance Project team since 2015. Her work focuses on research for the Getty’s Antiquities collection, as well as on the methodology and practice of provenance research and its applications. Barr has contributed to collaborative projects with colleagues across the world, enriching the history of the Getty’s collection and better documenting the 20th-century art market for antiquities. Her publications include book chapters and papers focusing on case studies of antiquities from across the ancient Mediterranean.
Ms. Barr holds a B.A. in Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology from Bryn Mawr College and an MSt. in Classical Archaeology from the University of Oxford. Beyond provenance, her research interests include ancient numismatics and accessibility within museums.
