Dr. Belinda Chiera is a Senior Lecturer in Statistics at the University of South Australia and a proud adjunct faculty member of JHU. Belinda has a long history of engaging with industry and has had many great experiences including working with the local Environment Protection Authority and local health organizations. Her research is therefore highly influenced by Government and Industry needs and she has spent many years researching a host of environmental and environmental-impact issues including the impact of the El Niño Southern Oscillation on the local environment, modeling air quality affected by vehicle pollution, policy advice to maximize health benefits whilst simultaneously minimizing air pollution and investigating the effects of lead-in-air from a local smelter on children’s health. Belinda was an instructor in the Australian field study capstone project where she enjoyed discussing, and working on, real-world environmental problems with JHU students and exchanging perspectives on the environment through many wonderful discussions during the study.
