SUMMARY:The New Landscape of U.S. Environmental Policy
DESCRIPTION:Panelists Daniel Stone and Pam Lee will share insights into how states\, organizations\, communities\, and individuals are navigating and responding to this rapidly shifting environmental landscape. \nStone\, a lecturer in the program\, is a bestselling author and longtime journalist who covers science\, history\, and exploration. He is a former senior editor and current contributing editor for National Geographic and was a White House correspondent for Newsweek during the Obama administration. His work has appeared in The Washington Post\, Scientific American\, and on CBS’s 60 Minutes. He is the author of the national bestseller The Food Explorer\, on the life and adventures of food spy David Fairchild\, as well as Sinkable\, a tale of obsession\, the deep sea\, and the world’s most legendary shipwreck. He holds an MS from Johns Hopkins University and a BA from the University of California\, Davis and lives in Santa Barbara\, California. \nLee is an attorney and environmental policy specialist currently practicing civil litigation in her adopted home of Portland\, Maine. She previously worked as a consultant to federal and state water quality\, infrastructure\, and environmental programs\, providing expertise on regulatory compliance\, longstanding and emerging environmental challenges\, and changing fiscal environments. Her diverse background also includes work in the private energy sector\, as a law clerk for the U.S. House of Representatives Office of General Counsel\, and as a judicial law clerk for the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska. A Princeton University magna cum laude graduate with a BS in Geosciences and Environmental Studies\, Lee earned an MS in Environmental Science and Policy program at Johns Hopkins and a JD\, summa cum laude\, from George Mason University. \nLearn about JHU’s MS in Environmental Sciences and Policy program.
