Registration and Policies
Advance registration is required for all courses. Space permitting, registrations are accepted until the start of class. However, students are encouraged to register at least two weeks prior to the start of class to ensure receiving Zoom link information. You may register for Odyssey courses online with VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover.
Please note, if you are eligible for a discount on your registration you must use the PDF form.
JHU Alumni & Osher Baltimore, Columbia and Montgomery County Members
JHU Alumni and Osher Baltimore, Columbia, and Montgomery County members qualify for a 25% discount on Odyssey courses, provided they register over the phone or in-person. If students register online, they will not be able to receive the discount.
JHU Employee Registration
Full-time JHU faculty/staff, their spouses or same-sex domestic partners, JHU retirees and their spouses or same-sex domestic partners are eligible for tuition remission. Enrollment for an Odyssey course cannot be processed until both the registration form and the completed tuition remission form are received by the Odyssey registrar. Under the terms of the University’s remission program, Hopkins employees must withdraw in writing at least five working days before the first class to receive a 100% refund. No partial refunds are given to JHU employees and affiliates.
Under the Johns Hopkins University Tuition Remission Plan, eligible full-time JHU faculty and staff receive 80% remission for non-credit personal enrichment Odyssey courses, with 20% payable at registration (e.g. $180 full-tuition – $144 tuition remission = $36 out of pocket). Please make sure on the form you pick ‘Arts & Sciences – Non-Credit – Personal Enrichment – 80%’ in the ‘Course offered’ section.
JHU Spouses/Same-Sex Domestic Partners
Under the Johns Hopkins University Tuition Remission Plan, JHU spouses/same-sex domestic partners staff receive 50% remission for non-credit personal enrichment Odyssey courses, with 50% payable at registration (e.g. $180 full-tuition – $90 tuition remission = $90 out of pocket). Employees are responsible for certifying the status of their family members on the tuition remission forms. Please make sure on the form you pick ‘Arts & Sciences – Non-Credit – Personal Enrichment – 50%’ in the ‘Course offered’ section.
JHU Retirees and Their Spouses
JHU Retirees and their spouses must submit registration and tuition remission forms to the Odyssey registrar for confirmation of the employee’s retirement status in order to participate in the remission program. Please make sure on the form you pick ‘Arts & Sciences – Non-Credit – Personal Enrichment’ in the “Course offered” section.
Withdrawals and Refunds
If a course is canceled or closed, the student is notified immediately, and a full refund is processed automatically unless another course is requested. Students who wish to withdraw from a course must do so in writing. Notification of withdrawal may be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or delivered/mailed to:

Escort Service Escort services from classrooms to parking areas are available at the Homewood campus by calling 410-516-4600 or 6-4600 from any campus phone.
At enrollment, students agree to assume risks and liabilities entailed in any course requirement. The student releases and holds harmless Johns Hopkins University, its trustees, faculties, and administration from any injury sustained through his/her actions or the actions of other students enrolled in the course.
Services for Disabled Students
Johns Hopkins University is committed to providing reasonable and appropriate accommodations to students with disabilities. Students who are in need of accommodations must notify the Odyssey office at email@example.com or call 410-516-7428 at least four weeks prior to the beginning of class. In addition, they must submit a Request for Accommodation Form and documentation completed by an appropriately credentialed professional prior to the beginning of each semester(s) they are registered.
For those courses that require a textbook, textbooks may be purchased through MBS Direct, an online virtual bookstore. Place your order online or by calling 800-325-3252. Most Odyssey classes do not require a textbook, but for those that do, textbooks will be indicated by course number on the MBS Direct Web site. Orders are shipped from MBS Direct within 24 hours. Textbooks are generally delivered to students via UPS.
Library Privileges for Odyssey Students
Students participating in a class lasting 4 or more weeks may apply for borrowing privileges at the Service Desk on M-level. Students need to present a photo ID and proof of Odyssey course registration. They are issued a JHU Libraries Borrowing card and can check out materials for 4 weeks with 2 renewals or until the date of the last class, whichever is sooner. The Borrowing card also allows students to enter the library during the restricted exam hours.
Upon presentation of a photo ID, students may access the library at any time except during restricted exam hours. Dates and hours are posted. Usually, access is granted until 4:00 PM during exams. When in the building, Odyssey students can use the book and most of the online collections. Some online collections are restricted by vendors to specific groups.
The JHU Weather Emergency Line is 410-516-7781. The line provides information on class and campus closing, due to inclement weather.
Parking, Maps, and Directions
Visitor parking is located in the South Garage for $9/evening and on weekends. Discounted parking vouchers will no longer be available, however, existing vouchers will still be honored. Instead, parking hangtags may be purchased from the Parking Office for $15 and are valid through June 30, 2020. The hangtags may be used after 6:00 PM in any non-gated areas, such as the spaces behind Shriver Hall, behind Clark and Hodson Halls, the Wyman ungated lot, and the lot by the Greenhouse. Please see the Parking website to register your information and call or go in-person to pay. For specific questions about on-campus parking, visit the parking website at parking.jhu.edu or call the Parking Office at 410-516-7275. Their office is staffed from 8 AM – 5 PM daily, including weekends, and is located on the first floor of the South Parking Garage, near the entrance.
Off-campus metered parking is also available on Art Museum Drive across from the Baltimore Museum of Art and along Wyman Park Drive.
