Thomas Colonna, Program Director, Sr. Lecturer
Thomas Colonna, PhD, JD, is the Director of MS in Regulatory Science and MS in Food Safety Regulation programs at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Colonna has taught at Johns Hopkins University since 2004 and has also taught at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. Dr. Colonna co-authored two textbooks in the field of regulatory science (Promotion of Biomedical Products: Regulatory Considerations and Biomedical Software Regulation) as well as numerous articles in industry-recognized professional periodicals. Dr. Colonna earned a BS in Microbiology from the University of Sciences in Philadelphia (formerly the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science), a PhD in molecular biology from the Johns Hopkins University, and a law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center.
Dr. Colonna has successfully combined his scientific, academic, and legal training to create and build several businesses. Dr. Colonna founded two digital publications (Medivations.com and PhysicianOfficeNews.com), a medical e-commerce business (Medsupplyfinder, Inc.), an FDA regulatory affairs consultancy group (Biotech-Consultant.com), and most recently an organic farm (OrganianFarms.com) in Bowling Green, Missouri. Dr. Colonna’s consulting clients range from Fortune 500 companies to small start-up companies located throughout the U.S., as well as, Canada, India, E.U., and Russia.
