Paul Lewis, Adjunct Faculty
Dr. Lewis is Director of the Standards Division at the United States Department of Agriculture’s, National Organic Program. As Director, Dr. Lewis manages the development of standards for the production, handling, labeling, and enforcement of all USDA certified organic products. Dr. Lewis is also responsible for managing the national list of allowed and prohibited substances to be used in organic agricultural production. Prior to joining USDA, Dr. Lewis held a variety of leadership positions at the United States Environmental Protection Agency, focusing on regulatory, human health, and environmental considerations addressing pesticides and commercial chemicals.
Dr. Lewis earned a Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Policy from George Mason University, a Master of Public Administration from The George Washington University, a Master of Science in Plant Pathology from Oklahoma State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Plant Science from the University of Rhode Island.
