Dr. Michael Cohen brings to the program over 20 years of experience in government, political, and commercial polling and market research leadership. He joins Johns Hopkins after running his own firm for the last fifteen years and publishing Congress in Your Pocket, the first-to-market and award-winning suite of mobile apps for Capitol Hill, as well as the UK and EU Parliaments.

Mike previously served as the in-house Principal Strategist and Polling Team Lead for Microsoft Corporation. Before that, he was Vice President of Public Affairs at Fabrizio, McLaughlin & Associates, and began his career at The Gallup Organization, where he rose to Senior Research Director. While completing his doctorate, Mike led and coordinated state legislature campaigns for the Republican Party of Florida.

In addition to his professional experience, Dr. Cohen teaches modern political campaigns in DC for the University of California and digital political strategy at Johns Hopkins University. He previously served as the Interim Director of the political management program at The George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management (GSPM) where his research focused on political campaigns, public policy issues, and social media.

Hailing from the mean streets on the south side of Long Island, his family moved to Florida where Mike earned his undergraduate, master’s and doctorate at the University of Florida and, more importantly, met his future wife. When the iPhone is off, you can find him hanging out with his family, rooting for Gator sports, hacking away at a tennis ball, or modding his Jeep Wrangler.
