Kristen Willett, Assistant Program Director, Senior Lecturer
Kristen Willett, PhD, is the Assistant Director of the MA in Communication. Dr. Willett has also taught Communication courses at the University of Maryland-College Park, George Mason University and Northern Virginia Community College. Dr. Willett earned her PhD in Communication with a focus in Health Communication from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Her Master of Arts was in Communication, also from George Mason University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and English from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia.
She has taught courses in interpersonal communication, event planning, and public address. Her research has been published in several journals and she has presented her research at conferences throughout the United States. Her dissertation focused on communication between fibromyalgia patients and their partner. Dr. Willett’s research interests include: health communication, interpersonal communication, risk and strategic communication, as well as academic advising, retention and student learning outcomes.
