Kate Collen, Adjunct Faculty

Kate Collen is the collections database administrator at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum and is Chair Emeritus of the Collections Information Management Committee at the Smithsonian Institution. She maintains information about the museum’s collections by customizing, standardizing and migrating data for internal use and on the web. She wrote a major digitization grant for the Postal Museum and manages collections and cataloging projects. Ms. Collen has worked in museums small and large. She was the collections assistant at Rokeby Museum historic house in Ferrisburgh, VT, worked in the registration departments of the Mission Houses Museum in Honolulu, HI, and at the Wolfsonian-FIU Museum, Miami Beach, FL, and was a curator of photographs at the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial in Honolulu, HI.

She completed a photography research fellowship at the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, TX and received her M.A. in Museum Studies from The George Washington University and a B.A. in Art History and Anthropology from the University of Vermont.
